An adviser told my client who wishes to purchase a shield plan that it was not really necessary to get a rider to cover the co-insurance & deductible. Apparently the adviser said that “usually” the insurer would allow the policyholder to claim the co-insurance. My advice to the client is that it is more important to rely on what the policy contract say especially when there is a contradiction between what the adviser say and the contract. I would also suggest customers be wary of advisers who gives opinions that are mere opinions rather then facts.
