In this year, I am making some new plans. Some have already been firmed up while others are still on-going. Here are my plans:
- Help for retirees' portfolio. Traditionally many financial practitioners have recommended annuity and ultra-safe instrument to manage retirees' monies. However, the very low returns from annuity have not interest many people. In addition, if a person retires at 62 and assuming living up to age 90 has a time horizon of 28 years. There is no reason to subject 100% of all money to a ultra-conservative portfolio. Some part of the money can take some risk because of the very long horizon. I shall be doing more research into this and will eventually make available a portfolio for retired persons. The research will eventually be published in one of the financial magazine (to be decided later)
- Will be working with my other colleagues to provide more financial services (can't release the details here yet).
- Will be formalizing working relationship with partners as Introducers. They will help me refer new clients to me. This is to ensure that I remain focus on providing financial advisory and research. I do not wish to waste precious time "prospecting" for new clients. I never have any formalised arrangement with my Introducers. I would like to formalised the arrangement this year with them so that they can be compensated for doing Introducing activities for me.
- In the past, I had resisted replying to emails seeking for financial advice unless the person meets me in person. This year, I decided that in order to promote greater financial literacy and awareness, I openly invite anyone (even those unknown to me) to ask me questions. I'll then post the questions (minus personal details) and answers on my blog. The condition is that the questions must be generic enough for the general internet audience to benefit. For more specific and personalized question, the old-fashion face-face meeting is still required. I'll address this in my next blog.
