I really wish MAS will abolish the artificial separation between retail investors and Accredited Investors (AI). Both are humans but why both are treated differently? One is treated more humans than the other.
AI investors have more choices and as financial adviser I can do more things for them. I have a lot of ideas circulating my head but unfortunately these ideas can only become a reality for AI clients. Recently my magazine articles are a collection of ideas I have which unfortunately can only be done for AI. Most ideas are not new but they are new because nobody put these ideas into Singapore context. Yet when I have a solution, it can only be done for AI. Take for example, the recent offering of Man OM-IP 3Eclipse hedge fund. This is only for AI. But does it mean it is more risky than say a MENA fund that is open for retail? How about that WIOF Adriatic-Balkans Opportunities Fund? Is it less risky than that hedge fund?
