My client just treat me for a delicious lunch because I helped her to claim from the shield plan.
Normally shield plan claim is quite hassle free but her case it was delayed for 5 months. My past experience is that the insurer pays in 2 to 3 weeks time. For her case, due to various reasons and perhaps insurer's own internal miscommunication the delay in reimbursement was going on "forever." So fed-up and impatient that I decided to write a complain letter to the insurer's CEO. Lo and behold it was like magic that the claim was settled within six hours after that complain. My client was really nice and took me out for a nice lunch and at the same time I handled the reimbursement cheque to her. Once every one or two months, I observed that I'll have clients making claim against hospitalization. It illustrates how important this kind of insurance is. However consider that the renumeration can hardly pay for some chicken rices, it is a no wonder that many advisers do not actively market this plan. Still I must admit that doing investment is much more interesting than insurance. Insurance is very static. Benefits and features of insurance products do not change very much. Also once people get all their protection planning done, there is nothing much to do already. That's why I now focuses more on investment. For the past many months, I had been more into doing investment services and products. I really think that the investment market in Singapore is exploding. The existing stock market sentiment has no material impact because there are investment opportunities that do not move with the market. Within just one month, I had already collected investment amount that is half of my entire 2007 AUM. Unfortunately these products are not available to the man in the street. I always get protest from my clients why life is unfair. Still, there is nothing I can do because of regulations. These limitations turn out to be a blessing for me as high networth individuals tend to write larger cheques. |
