I conducted an experiment. Recently I mass email to 203 people. I copied and paste from a brief summary of a product in the email and I also stated that anyone keen in this product can buy from me. However, I also indicated in the email that I'll not personally buy such product. and that those who wants to know why should ask me  Actually I contradicted myself in the email by sending confusing statements. I waited for one week and guess what? Only a total of six persons asked me why I will not buy such product. The remaining 197 did not bother to ask. Here is what I think happened:

  1. People do not read email. If this is the case, it is dangerious to sent important email which is getting quite normal these days.
  2. People read the good points of the product but somehow ignored the contradiction in the message. This is also quite common. People just keep on buying financial products on the basis of the benefits of the products but strangely people do not ask or care about the risks involved.
