Dear Wilfred, 

I write this email as a warning to a possible 'churning con' from X bank. 

My mother received a phone call from a X staff claiming that a particular product she had was coming to an end and that she was to switch to another as soon as possible. 

Fortunately, she consulted me on this matter and I told her:

1. X bank would have at least sent her a letter explaining the closure.
2. There would be some mention of a fund closure in the news. 

The payout from the supposed 'closed' product still came and if it comes again in November (payouts are twice a year), this was probably a desperate attempt to make her switch to a non-paying fund.

You can do a favor by writing to the Straits Times forum on this to do a favor for other people. I would like to put this case on my blog (minus personal details & names) as a warning to others too.
