After IndyMac bank's collapse, another 2 banks have failed. These are the First Heritage Bank and First National Bank of Nevada. In fact, since beginning of this year, 7 US banks have failed.  (http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/banklist.html)

I am personally unhappy with the small amount of cover by the SDIC which insures Singapore banks' deposits. I saw the SDIC advertisement on a bus and it printed "$20,000" as the cover.
