Recently I have a 24 year old lady client who saw me to do some planning. She agreed the importance of protection planning although she did not know of any illness she is suffering. So she took up my recommendations of various insurance products. During the underwriting stage, it was found that she had an abnormal ECG in a medical checkup that the insurer requested. As a result of that, her insurance application was rejected by the insurer. The clinic referred her to a cardiologist to follow up and I hope there is no serious problems. This came as a surprised to me because most of the time, a young person shouldn't have too much of an issue during the insurance medical examination. I recalled that there was another instance a couple of years ago a 26 years old lady client went for an insurance medical checkup and was found to have a breast lump. There was a loading on her insurance premium but was not rejected. Health is something that cannot be taken for granted and I hope everyone will take care of themselves.
