NUS leaked my personal data? *faint* PDF Print E-mail

A few weeks ago there was a news in the newspaper that NUS leaked the personal data of its graduate students. I thought it was only restricted to a small number of students. I almost fainted when I receive a letter from NUS that the whole batch of students graduated from 1993 to 2008 had their personal data mass email out to the cyberworld!! I have already have a big problem with telemarketiers calling me to buy all sort of rubbish and looks like my handphone is going to get spam like nobody business. The letter from NUS is really not sincere. It apologised and stated it will put in place process to prevent it from happening but nothing is said about how is it going to tackle future problems? With all its world class super high IQ professors, I cannot believe it has not thought of anything to tackle future problems? What about all the imported talent? Cannot think of any solution? Or at least some procedures to mitigate the problem? Or perhaps start thinking of setting up a fund to cater for its future liabilities due to law suit? Aiyo, I don't need a PhD to know what the school need to do now.

While NUS made the mistakes, it will be everybody else except NUS that is going to bear the pain of this mistake through increased email/snail-mail spam, harrasement from sales people and identity thief. So much so for a very "clever" university.
