The Schroder Pan Asia Fund will be terminated on 1 March 2010 due to small fund size. According to the factsheet dated 30 June 2009, the fund size was S$9.1m. The factsheet shows that the 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years and 5 years return were 22.9%, 11.4%, -22.9%, -10.2% and -0.7% respectively. Compares with the benchmark return of 22%, 17.2%, -17.5%, -7.4% and 0.9%. The fund itself has been underperforming its own benchmark for a long time. It was only recently for the last 3 months which it has done better. But it is closing down next year. Equity funds such as these are closing at the wrong time. After a major bear market, investors are forced to liquidate. It will be better off just investing in the index and wait for market to recover.
